OFBF partnered with Coexist to create an overall digital strategy and online experience that would showcase a modern representation of the organization.
Opportunity
Like many large organizations, OFBF was stuck with an outdated website that no longer supported their brand or their needs. With a desire to make OFBF.org a relevant resource for active members, a hub for all divisions of OFBF and a vehicle to promote agriculture - it meant one thing...time for a complete website overhaul.
Execution
Much like our farming friends, we started this project from the ground up. In order to fully wrap our arms around the various needs coming out of each distinct group at OFBF - Coexist sat down with each group individually on a personal level and just listened. During one particularly poignant interview, a key membre from OFBF's senior team said something that really stuck. When asked what this individual would like to see in a new website he exclaimed "just build me a front porch." This metaphor was extremely powerful as it harkens back to a simpler time when conversation and community actually happened on front porches all across america. People would gather and talk about news, the weather, events going on that weekend, the crops and more.
Coexist set out to build a digital front porch for OFBF. A key piece to this new digital hub would be the robust content mangament tool behind the scenes that would enable individuals across counties to log in and update everything in real time. When we say everything, we mean everything including: news stories, blogs, event calendars, user polls, photos, videos, radio broadcasts, podcasts, press, social media and more. To support a comprehensive online experience like OFBF.org - Coexist created over 50,000 lines of development code.
Results
Beyond the creation of a true digital hub representing each group and county under the OFBF umbrella - new features on the site actually enhance the overall conversation taking place online with 2-way channels giving users the ability to comment on articles, voice their opinion and connect through multiple social communities.
During the first 2 months post web launch - over 525 new accounts were created online.
