The Baja 1000 on Grease
Greasecar Motorsports is out to prove that a diesel engine powered by pure vegetable oil can be a competitive force in off-road racing’s biggest event – the SCORE Baja 1000. The Coexist crew could not resist the urge to get a little dirty and support this game-changing effort.
To backup ...
Earlier this summer, Dan met Mark Andrew (fashion photographer) at a photo shoot in New York. It didn’t take long to expose the fact that they both shared a love for off-road racing - spurred by the documentary film Dust to Glory and probably induced at the moment to make up for the women's fashion apparel world they had both wandered into with a shared client . They kept in touch, passing “must-see” website links back and forth until the fateful day that the GreaseCar Motorsports project came up. This shared passion for off-road racing and the opportunity to collaborate on a related project became all the more enticing when Coexist learned that a group of racers were looking to enter the Baja 1000 race with a buggy powered by grease.
It all started at an early age for the Coexist partners with a passion for remote controlled dune buggies, later giving way to dirt bikes and more recently, adventure touring motorcycling. This love for playing in the dirt and seeing what lies beyond the pavement started to have new meaning.
With a chance to raise awareness on “alternative fuels" and participate with a team racing in the famed Baja 1000, Coexist had to find a way to play. Realizing the value we could bring with our interactive expertise – Coexist decided to donate 100% of all professional fees associated with creating an online strategy, branding and the actual online experience for www.GreasecarMotorsports.com
A few weeks of passionate sweat equity resulted in an online experience that the entire team is proud of. Beyond a showcase for this race team to entice potential sponsors - the general public and savvy race fans now have a chance to peek behind the garage door and get involved.
Some call it work. We call it a reason to wake up every morning with a smile on your face.
