Local Lawyers show off their skills for image-boosting holiday greeting.

A Columbus law firm is trying something new for its annual holiday greeting.

Schottenstein Zox & Dunn Co LPA made two gag videos of lawyers getting ready for Christmas, then offered them up for visitors at a website, SZDlive.com, to vote for their favorite. Each time someone votes, the Law firm sets aside $1 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio.

One of the videos, titled “Lawyers on Longboards,” stars Schottenstein partner Richard Barnhart and associate Eve Ellinger testing out long skateboards Barnhart supposedly bought for his son. The pair shred it up along Front Street and Marconi Boulevard near the law firms Arena District offices, showing off some impressive moves. (In truth, they used stung doubles, including one donning a blonde wig.)

The other features partner John McDonald sneaking into the firm’s toy drive collection to jam on the Guitar Hero video game. Impressively, he did not use a stunt double for his air guitar antics.

Joanna Arnason, the firm’s marketing director, said the idea for the site came about during a meeting this fall to find a way to match the traditional holiday greeting with the firm’s branding.

“(We) knew our card had to deliver our promise, to illustrate our creative approach to law and continue to showcase our attorneys as real — and in this case — very fun — people,” she said in an e-mail.

The firm worked with Columbus design agency Coexist (www.coexistcreative.com) on the project.

So far, “Rock the Toy Drive” was narrowly beating out “Lawyers on Longboards” for viewer’s favorite.
